HRPLD and executive member Dolores Bryant was nominated for the Workopolis HR Professional of the Year Award.  The HR Summit Awards gala evening event was held Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at the Intercontinental Hotel in Toronto.

I was absolute delighted to be nominated for this award. Jeny Wallace, Director of Workforce at the London Economic Development  Corporation was my nominator. LEDC has a strong and successful platform for Workforce Development and many of their projects ideally fit the partnership model for HRPLD. This partnership has resulted in projects such as Experience Works, Global Talent and Recruiting and Retention support for SME's. It is my ardent hope that these partnerships continue to build in the years to come.

My activities as a board member with the HRPLD have connected me with so many worthy programs and great people. As fellow members and volunteers, I hope you join me in recognizing our chapter for its bold vision, creativity and excellence, all which provide exceptional value to its members.

I hope that this award inspires other HR professionals to participate fully in their careers and to include volunteerism as an important part of their professional experiences. Though I will be stepping down from the board in the spring, I will keep my long list of pleasant memories forever.
